General Requirements.
Permanent Resident
You must be a permanent resident (landed immigrant) of Canada to be eligible for Canadian citizenship. You must have been physically present in Canada as a permanent resident for 1,095 days in the five (5) years before your citizenship application. Only the five (5) years before the date of your application are considered.
Taxpayer
One must have paid taxes regularly since it is required
to become a Canadian citizen. You must have submitted income taxes
in three tax years that are entirely or substantially within
the five years before the date of your
application for citizenship.
Pass the Test
There is a citizenship test that you must pass. To pass the test, you must answer at least 15 of the 20 questions correctly. After you complete the exam, one of the officers will verify your results to ensure they are correct. You must demonstrate knowledge of Canada as well as the obligations and privileges of citizenship.
Language proficiency
